WEEK 5: SET DESIGN AND BUILD TEAM
In this week, walls in the escape room still need to be polished. We cleaned up the escape room a little bit to get rid of the used containers and materials from previous stages. We put 2 layers of plastic sheets on the floor to prevent the carpet to be ruined by the sand of the walls and the paint. Then we sand the wall to make the walls look flatter. While sanding, lots of dust was let off from the walls and filled the room. For safety’s sake, Prof. Gonzalez opened the door every 15 minutes to let the dust out. Also, all people in the lounge should wear masks in order to not breath in too much dust. After sanding, walls are painted in grey to make them look like concrete. Till the time this blogged was written, all the walls in the container room has been painted and one of the walls in the laboratory was painted.
To make the cables look nicer, we also removed all the black tapes and substituted them with small black bands, we tied the cable to the metal framework of the celling. In this case, the cable also become moveable.
As for the puzzles, we attached a small box to the laser puzzle to make it easier for players to find the correct lock to use the password from the laser puzzle. Now, the mirror cubes cannot move along with their tracks smoothly, we are buying some stronger magnates to see whether that can solve the problem. We also made small modifications to the diary puzzle on its list of item leaders in order to make them fit better with the story we got from writing group. We made several duplicates of the paper version puzzles just in case and asked the ticketing group to help us print the posters. For the sliding puzzle, we bought a remote-control farting machine as the last move, Prof. Gonzalez cut 25 wooden tiles according to the size of the controller. The players should somehow move the tile with the controller to a certain spot so that they can press the bottom on the controller and let the running crew know they have solved all the puzzles.
We also asked Varun to help us to empty the lockers and move them from the digital art lab to the laboratory side of the escape room. However, we also found that the direction lock was too big for the lockers. We would have to either change the process and put a digit lock on the lockers and put the direction lock somewhere else or we would figure out a way to change the locker a little bit to make the direction lock still being able to lock the lockers.
We will come in the escape room tomorrow and put all the puzzle in. Still, the smell in the escape room is pungent. We will also need to try to open the doors of the escape room to fresh the air a little bit tomorrow.
