Production Management: Week 2
In this week, the production management team tried to get a grasp of the workload that other teams will be doing in the upcoming weeks. In the beginning of the week, Ricky took the initiative to communicate with the other teams about who will be their team's leader. He sent an email to everyone through canvas stating this needed to be declared during this week. The importance of declaring a team leader is to establish an effective communication between us production managers and other teams so that we know who to check in with when it comes to status updates on the milestones that each team has done. This will allow us to coordinate time, resources, and expenses efficiently.
Tariq continued to oversee the each teams' spending while Abdah kept record of the expenses in a spreadsheet and calculated the remaining budget that all the teams need to be aware of in case something goes wrong and emergency spending would need to take place. So far, the Set Design and Building Team have spent the most money thus far in an amount of $399.00. The House Management and running crew have spent $50.00. Moving forward, we plan to discuss future expenses with other teams before they finalize their purchases because we have spent a huge sum of money before any building has taken place. We would like to move in the cheapest direction to conserve our finances in case something goes wrong, whether something breaks, or our escape room needs to undergo any modifications. In total, we have spent $449.00.
Other discussions involved the Software and Electronics Team. We found out that they still need to buy cameras, lights, and many of the sort. Several people from the other teams have alluded to the fact that we can utilize some of WPI's equipment such as extension wires, speakers, and monitors. All of these will be subject to change once all the teams begin their work. The production management team thinks that once teams start working, the work flow will become easy. It has still been a slow start for all teams because we are still trying to develop a story for the escape room, the puzzles that will be played in the escape room, and the layout and structural format of the escape room.
Lastly, the Marketing Team has already planned to develop an "Escape Room WPI" webpage, which will be used for future classes that will be building escape rooms at WPI. They are still trying to figure out other ways of advertising and scheduling our escape room event in an effective manner. For the next upcoming week, our intent is to have every team start their work and plan their milestones for what needs to be made or executed. The production management team will then plan accordingly on our calendar to set deadlines on when milestones should be completed so that the escape room can be made and play-tested in time. Overall, we should be at a good pace moving forward.

I'm worried that requests for money are going to come in after we've spent all the money. The "more money than we actually say is in the budget" seems to be an open secret at this point, but there is a finite amount of money. Make sure everyone knows the finite amount.
